What are my options?

The internet is an excellent tool and resource for communication, research and marketing. However, it can be intrusive and deceptive when misused. The internet provides a worldwide opportunity for every troubled youth program to post their information on the web and appear professional, credible, and the perfect solution for your teen.

There are many types of troubled youth programs including: Therapeutic Boarding Schools, Residential Treatment Centers, College Prep Schools, Emotional Growth Schools, Wilderness Therapy Schools, Wilderness Therapy Programs, and many more. Figuring out which program is the best fit for your teen can be overwhelming.

At Discovery Academy, our admission counselors have a great deal of experience in screening and recognizing students who are appropriate for Discovery Academy. However, we recommend that parents research as many programs as possible. We also suggest you check with the national organization of Independent Educational Consultants. They specialize in helping parents find appropriate placement for troubled teens and they operate under a strict code of ethics to maintain independence from the schools and programs they recommend. A parent may directly hire an educational consultant, thus, they are an objective third party and look after your family's best interest. You can find them at www.iecaonline.com or call Discovery Academy and we will recommend several consultants that are familiar with Discovery Academy as well as many other programs and schools across the country.
