Helping Students Overcome Challenges.

Discovery Academy has over nineteen years of experience in serving students with special learning challenges as a part of our fully accredited academic program. The Academy has successfully guided many students through high school completion and assisted in the transition to college, vocational training, employment and community service and functioning as productive citizens.

Discovery Academy offers comprehensive academic services for students who qualify for individualized instruction due to mild/moderate learning disabilities, ADHD, emotional disturbances, behavioral disorders, processing disorders, executive functioning disorders, and other.

Academic Goals:

To provide appropriate academic support and structure.

To stimulate and facilitate increased student learning and progress.

Academic Enrollment:

Facilitation of student needs based upon a student’s current Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan, or psychological evaluation recommendations.

Intervention with the Special Education Coordinator, Academic Counselor, and teachers to design their academic curriculum.

Development of a Student Academic Plan that meets the Utah State Core Curriculum for graduation.

Exploration of potential career, higher education, and employment options beyond high school.

Academic Process:

Small class size (12:1 maximum student to teacher ratio).

Fully licensed teachers.

Personalized, daily one-to-one instruction, monitoring of coursework.

The Academy demonstrates the unique capability of being flexible for each student’s specific learning challenges while maintaining the atmosphere of the classroom and fostering the high school experience. Students have the opportunity to pursue their educational goals in a comfortable, safe setting which empowers each student to more fully develop and strengthen their own individuality and skills.
